Professor Waqar Bhatti was appointed as a consultant to the University Hospitals of South Manchester in 2001 and organised and directed the first comprehensive Musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging service in Manchester. Services offered included the introduction of the first dedicated finger ultrasound service, imaging for forefoot disorders and other more common problems such as Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist, Hip and knee disorders. This service complemented the first complete MR arthrography service in South Manchester at the University Hospital of South Manchester where we are committed to make significant improvements in current and future healthcare and the well being of patients through imaging research and development.

Waqar is actively involved in the diagnosis and management of Sports injuries through his professional work with Manchester two premiership teams where he has been the radiologist for 8 years and most recently the only Radiologist from the North West providing the support at the Commonwealth games Glasgow 2014 and radiological support for the Athletes in Manchester during the Olympic games 2012.

He has been the preferred radiologist for the English Institute of Sport providing cover for British Taekwondo and swimming teams as well multiple Olympic medal winners.

Waqar Bhatti has been actively involved with inter-disciplinary research collaborations with our Department of Hand and Plastic Surgery University of Manchester. Through these research activities he has been actively involved in presentations nationally and internationally at the Radiological Society of North America, Chicago where he was awarded a CUM LAUDE for work presented on Ultrasound of Finger flexor tendon imaging and three merit awards for other presentations most recently Nov 2014.

Waqar Bhatti was educated at The Manchester Grammar School for Boys and later The Victoria University of Manchester. His early medical training days were spent at The Manchester Royal Infirmary and the late Withington Hospital gaining a Fellowship Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh (1996).

He was appointed as an honorary professor at the University of Salford in November 2013 where he runs his applied orthopaedic radiology course twice yearly.

Waqar has delivered over a hundred lectures nationally and internationally and is actively involved in teaching undergraduates and postgraduates.

He is an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Manchester and previous appointments include Lecturer in Anatomy at The Victoria University Of Manchester.

Waqar has an active role at the Royal College of Radiologist and has been on the Editorial board of Clinical Radiology journal since 2012.

Waqar currently works closely with Mr. Fahad Attar and reports for all his patients and works with him also in the One Stop Knee Clinic at The Wilmslow Hospital to provide an enhanced service for patients and this has been received very well by all the patients.
